Santos travels to London to receive awards and then visit the UAE and Portugal

The Colombian president is scheduled to travel tonight to the British capital and will be back in Bogota on the 14th of this month.

In London he will receive the Chatham House Prize tomorrow in recognition of his work to sign the peace agreement with the FARC, which will be attended by the former prime minister British John Major and Prince Andrew.

Chatham House, established in 1920 and also known as the Royal Institute of International Affairs, is a non-governmental organization that promotes the understanding in matters of foreign policy.

The prize that the president will receive was created in 2005 and among those who have won it in previous years are the Nobel Prize. Peace of 1990 and de facto leader of the Burmese Government, Aung San Suu Kyi; Gates.

On Friday, Santos will be awarded the Kew International Medal, awarded by the Royal Botanic Garden Kew, for his work for the protection of biodiversity.

On this visit two agreements on double taxation and investment protection will be signed, and a contribution from the Arab country will be finalized for 45 millions of dollars to support the Colombian post-conflict, according to the Presidency.

Afterwards, he will move to Dubai where he will preside over a meeting at the Emirate Chamber of Commerce and then he will be received by the vice president, prime minister and defense minister, Mohamed bin Rashid al Maktoum.

On Monday the 13th the president will make a state visit to Portugal that includes Meetings with the Portuguese President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and with the Prime Minister, Antonio Costa.

In Lisbon, Santos will receive an Honoris Causa Doctorate from the Nova University of Lisbon, will give a speech before the National Assembly and will have a meeting with Portuguese businessmen.
