Christy highlighted that in the last five years the chocolate from Nicaragua and Central America has stood out internationally.

"In fact, one of the winners who took gold this year in the London finals is a producer of Danish chocolate and won using cocoa from Nicaragua, "he said.

The deputy director of the Nicaraguan Institute of Agricultural Technology, Miguel Obando, explained that it is the first competition Regional of chocolates held in Nicaragua, with the participation of 200 samples from all of Central America.

"This competition aims to promote the agroindustry of the chocolate and its derivatives, based on fine cocoa or aroma, which is what is being evaluated in this contest, "he noted.

Obando said that Nicaragua is known to be a producer of cocoa fine and aroma, so in this event the country also seeks to promote and promote this product internationally.

In September 2015, Nicaragua entered the list of countries producers of fine cocoa or aroma of the International Cocoa Organization (ICCO), with a level of approval of 100%.

Meanwhile, a sample of fine cocoa Nicaraguan was selected among the 17 best in the world for its origin and quality at the International Cocoa Awards 2015, held in France.
