Bogotá, November 14 (EFE) .- The Superintendency of Public Services of Colombia assured today that it is not true that there are plans to return to the Spanish company Gas Natural Fenosa the operation of its subsidiary Electricaribe, intervened by the government a year ago and in the process of liquidation.

"I am not aware of those plans that have been mentioned in the press. insolvency process in which we have to sell some assets to pay some liabilities and simultaneously ensure the continued operation of the energy service on the Caribbean coast, "he said in a press conference in Bogotá the Superintendent of Public Services, José Miguel Mendoza.

On November 15 of last year, that entity ordered the intervention of Electricaribe, immersed in a financial crisis that affects the provision of service in the Caribbean departments of Atlántico, Bolívar, Cesar, Córdoba, La Guajira, Magdalena and Sucre, where it has its area of operation.

Subsequently, on March 14 the same Superintendency ordered the liquidation of the company and the search for an operator to assume the provision of the service, decision to which Gas Natural Fenosa responded with a lawsuit against Colombia before the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the Bank's agency World.

Mendoza explained that because it is an insolvency process "is an open process in which anyone who wants to put the resources required to participate can participate. to revamp Electricaribe's distribution network ".

On the other side, Mendoza announced a package of measures to guarantee the provision of the energy service in the seven departments of the Atlantic coast.
