The president and five directors of a subsidiary of the Venezuelan state PDVSA are detained

The president of Citgo, José Ángel Pereira Ruimwyk, and five other directors of that company, the largest subsidiary of the state oil company PDVSA, were arrested on charges of corruption, The Venezuelan Attorney General, Tarek Saab, informed today

Caracas, Nov 21 (EFE) .- The president of Citgo, José Ángel Pereira Ruimwyk, and five other directors of that company, the largest subsidiary of the state oil company PDVSA, were arrested under the accusation of corruption, informed today the general prosecutor of Venezuela, Tarek Saab,

The defendants signed contracts that "compromised the national heritage and the future of this important subsidiary (...) without the approval of the National Executive, "explained Saab.

The other apprehended, who served as vice presidents of Citgo, are Tomeu Vadell, Alirio Zambrano, Jorge Toledo, Gustavo Cárdenas and José Luis Zambrano.

The six will be prosecuted for the crimes of fraudulent intent, concert of public official with contractor, legitimization of capital and illicit association.
