Bogota, Oct 12 (EFE) .- The Colombian Ministry of Labor announced today that it has drawn Luis Enrique Cuevas as the new representative of the pilots in the court of arbitration convened by the government last Thursday to settle the labor dispute with Avianca. p>
Cuevas was elected at a public hearing on a list of 99 names provided by the Labor Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, explained the work in a statement. p>
The draw was held for the second time after Maria del Carmen Chaín López, initially chosen as the representative of the Colombian Association of Civil Aviators (Acdac), "declined the name, referring to aspects of a personal nature", added the information. p>
The Colombian Labor Minister, Griselda Restrepo, announced last Friday the election of Chaín López. p>
Each of the parties had to choose its representative before the arbitration court, and not to do so, as happened with Acdac, would be chosen by lot in the Labor Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice. p>
Avianca had already chosen as its delegate to the exmagistrado Carlos Ernesto Molina. p>
On September 20, Acdac began a strike with 702 pilots, which is half of Avianca's workforce, to complain higher wages and other labor benefits.
